Archer Mayor

Archer Mayor is a Yale graduate and lives in Newfane, Vermont. In addition to writing his Joe Gunther series of novels he works as a death investigator for the Vermont State Medical Examiner’s office, a deputy sheriff and he volunteers for his local fire department and EMT squad.

Mary Azarian

Vermont artist Mary Azarian has illustrated over 50 books. In 1999 Snowflake Bentley, her picture book about Vermont’s famous photographer of snow flake crystals won the Caldecott Award, which is like winning the Academy Award for Best Picture!

Mary grew up on her grandfather’s small farm just outside Washington, DC. Her interest in gardening developed at an early age and continues to this day.

Mary began drawing and painting at an early age and fell in love with woodcuts when she made her first relief print in the 4th grade. She studied printmaking at Smith College.

After graduating from college she moved to a small hill farm in northern Vermont with her husband Tom. The years on the farm became the inspiration for many of her prints.

Natalie Kinsey-Warnock

Natalie lives on the ancestral grounds of her Scottish forebears, who helped settle much of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom 200 years ago.

Natalie, her 3 brothers and sister grew up on a Vermont dairy farm and she currently lives in the Northeast Kingdom with her husband Tom in a timber frame house they built themselves. They make syrup from their maple trees each spring and have an orchard of old apple varieties.

Natalie is an athlete, outdoorswoman, naturalist, artist and writer. She runs 5 to 10 miles each morning and enjoys all manner of outdoor activity. She has rescued most of her pets (11 cats, 9 dogs and 2 horses) and is learning to play the bagpipes and the fiddle.

Chris Bohjalian

Award winning author Chris Bohjalian is a graduate of Amherst College and lives with his wife in Lincoln, Vermont, where they moved from New York City in 1987.He began writing weekly columns for local newspapers & magazines about living in Lincoln. His fifth book, “Midwives,” which focuses on a rural Vermont midwife, was critically acclaimed and became an Oprah Book Club selection.

Chris believes “It’s interesting who has moved here – writers, artists in general, people with an appreciation for life lived on a smaller, saner scale, an appreciation of Vermont values and nature. I like to think we’re the right people to move to Vermont”

Chris Bohjalian’s book “Idyll Banter” is one of Charlotte’s favorites – giving the reader a true and wonderful picture of what it’s like to live in a small town in Vermont.
